Weak high-pressure with light gradients over the southeastern United States dominated the weather in Florida.

The sounding is moist from the surface to 700 mb then dry aloft. The air mass was unstable. Light low level winds from the southwest rotating clockwise becoming northeasterly above 150 mb with weak directional and speed shear strengthening above 150 mb.

Storms associated with the east and west coast sea breezes formed at 1830Z. ECSB storms formed over Daytona and moved south to Cape Canaveral by 20Z. WCSB storms approached the Cape from Orlando. Anvil motion was weak, consistent with the light shear below 150 mb.
