A ridge of high pressure with a very weak pressure gradient was the major synoptic feature over Florida.

The sounding shows a broad region of moderate moisture with significant dry layers near 600, 450 and 350 mb. Low level winds are light and variable becoming westerly with speeds increasing slightly above 300 mb.

A weak sea breeze moved inland with storms forming south of Melbourne at 19Z. Anvils generally were not extensive. Anvil motion was to the east-southeast in accordance with the upper level shear.
