This day was characterized by very weak high pressure and light surface gradients over Florida with the ridge axis aligned from Daytona Beach to Louisiana.

The sounding shows weak shear below 200 mb with a sharp wind shift above that level due to a weak trough across south Florida as shown in the 200 mb chart. Stability is moderate with considerable moisture, especially below 400 mb.

From 1630 - 1730Z storms built up across the Cape and moved south down the sea breeze line approaching Vero Beach by 21Z. Anvils tended to blow off slowly toward the northeast.
